Below are links to both the Insect Sampling and Soil eDNA training. You’re welcome to complete one or both!

Please note as of February 2025, we are pausing insect collection to update our training protocols which will ensure high quality data collection. We will let you know as soon as we resume this part of the project. In the meantime, we would love for you to continue with this project by collecting soil samples.

STEP 1: Download Survey123

Survey123 is an app for either a smartphone or tablet. You will use it to record field data for this project.

Download it to a device that you can bring out into the field with you!

STEP 2: Scan QR Code for CA Biodiversity Survey

You need the CA Biodiversity Survey to participate in this project.

 

If you’re on your phone, click here to download the CA Biodiversity Survey.

If you’re on your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Open Survey123.
  2. Click “Continue without signing in”.
  3. Click on the QR Code scanner in the top right corner next to the search bar.
  4. Scan the below QR code to load the survey.

Important! Before you go out on your sampling trip, open Survey123 and update the CA Biodiversity Survey. We update it daily so do this the day you go out!
